Learn from dynamic and engaging leaders as they share their experiences in and out of the arena.
 

Fit to Lead is a one-day, in-person leadership conference for high school and college student-athletes. The conference will address contemporary issues that impact a student-athlete being a leader and role model on and off the playing field. Sessions will be presented in large and small-group settings led by outstanding motivational speakers, professional athletes, college facilitators, and Snider alumni. Special guest speakers will share inspirational messages, stories of overcoming adversity, and utilizing the power of positive influence. 

 

There is no fee to register for the Fit to Lead conference.

CHRIS PRONGER

Chris Pronger is considered one of the greatest defensemen to ever play in the

NHL. Over his 18-year Hall of Fame career, Pronger established himself as a

dominant force known for his physical play, elite defensive skills, and scoring

prowess from the blue line. He is the winner of the James Norris Trophy and the

Hart Trophy as league MVP both in 2000. In 2007, he led the Anaheim Ducks to

their first-ever Stanley Cup championship. In addition to his Stanley Cup ring,

Pronger's trophy case includes two Olympic Gold medals won as a member of

Team Canada in 2002 and 2010, making him one of only 29 members of the

exclusive "Triple Gold Club." It’s no wonder Chris was also named one of the

100 Greatest NHL Players in history, cementing his legacy as one of the premier

defensemen to ever play the game.

Chris’ storied career has been chronicled by the likes of ESPN, Sports Illustrated,

The Athletic and many more. Even since retiring from the NHL, his insights have

been featured in outlets like Forbes, CNN and MSNBC. Pronger now directs his

attention and competitive edge to being an in-demand resource for

organizations around the world. He is a highly successful founder, entrepreneur

and speaker, where he inspires audiences with lessons from his Hall of Fame

career and insights on achieving excellence through teamwork, unrelenting

preparation, and perseverance.

The same intensity, passion and experience that millions came to expect in NHL

arenas is the hallmark of every speech by Chris Pronger. Through memorable

stories from his decorated playing days and lessons learned in building his own

BRANDON GRAHAM

Brandon Graham is a 2x Super Bowl Champion and All-Pro defensive end for the Philadelphia Eagles. Currently in his 15th year, he is the longest tenured active player on the Eagles' roster. He hopes to remain deeply involved in the Greater Philadelphia community when he retires with a special interest in helping youth make healthy and wise choices in life. Brandon joined Snider's Board of Directors in 2022. 

 

Brandon’s foundation, Team Graham, offers its time and resources to various organizations and causes – including mentoring for boys and girls, providing clothing for and feeding the homeless and needy families.  He has supported the Police Athletic League through the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats campaign. He played youth football in the Detroit PAL league while growing up.

EVERETT HOLLYWOOD JACKSON

In 2019, Everett Jackson, Mr. Hollywood DJ, joined the Philadelphia Flyers as the in-arena hype host. His role with the team is to pump the energy in the stadium up to maximum levels. You can catch Hollywood starting with the pregame show all the way through the entire game; getting the crowd pumped, delivering messages from sponsors, and emceeing activities for big prizes. 


With a background in television, Mr. Hollywood DJ appeared in several movies and TV shows as well as appearances on MTV and BET. Upon his return to Philadelphia, he spent two years as a resident DJ on Fox 20 Philadelphia's "Good Day Philadelphia" before going to CBS and CW Philly as an on-air personality.

KATHERINE WAKEFIELD

Katherine (Kat) Wakefield joined Snider in 2022 and currently serves as Coordinator, Life Skills, where she creates curriculum and oversees life skills delivery across all age-based programs.

 

Prior to arriving at Snider, Kat worked with youth and families as both an outpatient and school based clinical therapist in Wilmington, DE. Additionally, Kat was a Division 1 lacrosse captain at Winthrop University, where she graduated with a social work degree. Kat moved to Philadelphia and received her Master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Pennsylvania.

JEREMY RAHN

Jeremy Rahn is a mental performance coach and mental health counselor specialized in working with athletes and high performers. Jeremy is currently the mental performance coordinator for the Philadelphia Flyers and previously worked with the Baltimore Orioles in the MLB, and the Washington Wizards in the NBA. In addition to his work in sports, Jeremy currently consults for fire departments across the country teaching mental skills and stress reduction strategies for improved performance.

TYRIK JACKSON

As a licensed barber, manager, and instructor in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tyrik Jackson is known as the “Educators Educator.” His live feeds on Instagram, #TyrikTalksTuesday, started at the Premier Barber Institute Right outside of Philadelphia, where he is owner and partner. This is where he progresses his passion for cosmetology and barbering. He is also the owner of Sharper ImageBarber Shops I & II in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he resides with his wife Nicole and three children, Ajanai, Zuri, and Ari.


Tyrik was the winner of the renowned 2006 Bronner Brothers Barber Battle in Atlanta, Georgia, where an audience of more than 22,000 spectators watched as Tyrik was given the name “X-Factor.” He won eight additional competitions from 2006–2007, including three Glynn Jackson Golden Scissor Awards. From 2007–2008, Tyrik traveled the country as a Platform Artist working various Trade Shows teaching barbers and stylists the 'tricks of the trade’ and creating a conduit between Cosmetology and Barbering.

 

His community service has included involvement in the 2005 “Achievement Matters, Don't Waste Your Mind” Awards event, hosted by the Urban League of Lancaster County and he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the James Street Improvement District. Tyrik has been a strong advocate of community outreach programs for young people and continues to influence local youth through his motivational speeches.

HANNAH ABRAMS

Hannah Abrams currently serves as the Manager of Girls' Programs at Snider Youth Hockey & Education, where she works to build and expand girls’ programming at all levels. She strives to increase the population of girls in hockey for love of the game, regardless of whether it is at the recreational or competitive level while also fostering academic and personal growth. She believes that participating in sports helps girls to develop skills that they could not gain anywhere else and will support them in becoming strong and successful citizens of the world.

 

Prior to joining the Snider team, she earned a BA in Psychology from Middlebury College and her personal training certification through ISSA. She spent much of her professional life working in private school education and athletics and has now settled in Philadelphia with her husband and their family. Her passion for supporting women in sports is deeply ingrained. She is originally from Lake Placid, New York, home of the infamous 1980 Olympic games.

LAKISHA HARVEY

As a Regional Vice President at Enterprise Mobility, Lakisha oversees and directs all growth, revenue, and customer service initiatives. She manages all employee development, coaching, training, and leadership efforts. Lakisha is an accomplished business executive offering over 20 years of experience driving revenue through building and maintaining client relationships. She is a proud member of Snider's Board of Directors and earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from UCLA.

CLAIRE SMITH

Claire Smith covered all things baseball as an award-winning reporter, columnist, and content editor for 40 years before becoming the founding executive director of Claire Smith Center for Sports Media at Temple University. She is also now an assistant professor of practice at Temple’s Klein College of Media and Communication. Smith was born in Philadelphia in 1953 within blocks of Temple, her alma mater. She later worked within miles of her hometown at her first newspaper employer — The Bucks County Courier Times. She soon moved on to The Philadelphia Bulletin where her dream of becoming a sports reporter became a reality.

Smith went on to work for the Hartford Courant, covering the New York Yankees from 1983 to 1987, the first female to have a full-time Major League beat. She later worked as a columnist for The New York Times from 1991 to 1998 and was an editor and columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer from 1998 to 2007. She rounded out her career as a content editor at ESPN, 2007-2021.

Smith traveled the world covering baseball, with assignments as wide-ranging as labor negotiations in The Oval Office to witnessing the first-ever Major League games played in Europe and Puerto Rico. She served as content editor for ESPN entities when the network traveled to Cuba to cover a game between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cuban national team. There, she prepped the ESPN on-air crew for its in-game interview with President Barack Obama. Smith remains active in the journalism field, as a contributing columnist, most recently with The Philadelphia Inquirer.

 

The veteran reporter’s achievements were recognized by her peers when she voted the 2017 recipient of The Baseball Writers Association’s Career Excellence Award; the first woman and fourth African American to be so honored. Smith has also been recognized for her pioneering efforts and career milestones by her alma mater as well as The Association for Women in Sports Media, The National Association of Black Journalists, The Jackie Robinson Foundation, The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and The Josh Gibson Foundation. She is also the recipient of the Associated Press Sports Editors’ Red Smith Award, considered the highest honor in sports journalism.

Smith will be one of three of the nation’s most prominent Black journalists to be honored as the first inductees in the Black Sportswriters Hall of Fame. The Hall is to be located at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Smith was among the subjects of A League of Her Own, a short biographical documentary about the women who shattered glass ceilings throughout sport media. The film was screened in 2018 at the Hall of Fame's annual Baseball Film Festival. She was also one of the women pioneers featured in ESPN’s Nine for 9 series, in the episode entitled Let Them Wear Towels.

CINDY STUTMAN

Cindy Stutman is the Senior Vice President, Community Relations and Executive Director, Flyers Charities. In this role, Stutman leads all community impact strategy and program development for the Flyers Community Relations team and Flyers Charities, the team’s non-profit philanthropic arm. In 2021, she spearheaded the re-prioritization for Flyers Charities’ giving pillars and pivoted the organization towards the development of strategic giving partnerships. Flyers Charities creates strong communities by eliminating financial barriers and reviving play spaces to grow the game of hockey and aiding local families affected by cancer throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

She joined the Flyers organization in 2003 as a customer service manager and rose through the department as a director and senior director before being named Vice President of Customer Solutions in November 2007. In January of 2014, Stutman was named Vice President of Revenue Support, expanding her position to include oversight of all customer service and support initiatives related to ticket sales, ad sales, digital media, ticket operations and ticket technology. She also has served as Senior Vice President, Business Operations.

Prior to joining the Flyers, Stutman was a customer service manager with the Philadelphia 76ers for five seasons (1999-2003). Stutman earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in marketing and sports management. She was named a 2023 Metro Philadelphia Power Woman, a 2022 Philadelphia Business Journal Woman of Distinction, and a 2022 Sports Business Journal Game Changer. She is a 2018 alumna of Leadership Philadelphia and was the 2018 Comcast Spectacor Excellence Leadership Award winner.

TINA THARP

Tina Tharp, a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) International Master Professional, is the Men’s and Women’s Head Tennis Coach at West Chester University. In her seventeen years in this position, Tina has been named the PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Coach of the Year seven times. She is an accredited USTA Tennis High Performance Coach who has been nationally recognized for her successful and innovative programming skills. Tina was formerly the Head Tennis professional at the Cleveland Country Club in Shelby, NC and also held concurrent Head Professional positions at Overbrook Golf Club and Radnor Racquet Club in Bryn Mawr, PA.
